Dubai Princess Sheikha Mahra Divorces Husband On Instagram.

On Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, Dubai Princess Sheika Mahra posted on Instagram a message to her husband. The message read, “Dear Husband, As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, I Divorce You. Take Care. Your ex-wife.” Although many people, especially those not in the UAE, are supporting her, Mahra may have to face consequences for her actions.

Princess Sheika Mahra used an Islamic practice called “Triple Talaq.” Talaq means divorce. The practice said to be outlawed in India, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco, is traditionally a way a man can divorce his wife in verbal or written form. By law, women are not allowed to practice “Triple Talaq,” meaning Mahra might face legal trouble in the case of this divorce. Under Sharia law, Muslim women are supposed to file a divorce case. The court will also make the women attend mediation sessions, likely to try and stop the women from divorcing their partner.

If the original case isn’t accepted in court, the wife will have to go to the judge and plead why their partner has faults and why they’d be better off without them. Unfortunately for the women, the judges of their region commonly reject the first divorce case, causing the women to have to take a longer process in order to finalize the agreement.

The Princess and her husband married last April and welcomed their daughter nine weeks ago. Sheikha has since seemingly erased her husband from her social media, and only photos of her and her daughter are present among other media photos.
