August 24th, 2024 – Shaboozey is suing his old record label for songwriting rights.
A Bar Song (Tipsy)
Shaboozey is suing his former record label over song rights. The star’s also suing Kreshendo for allegedly releasing several songs without prior consent after he terminated the contract in 2019. The singer-songwriter filed a lawsuit against Kreshendo Entertainment, claiming they’re making it impossible for him to regain publishing rights to his music. The singer says he was terminated in 2019 after three years with the label. A clause in his contract allows him to pay off 110% of the unrecouped balance of prior advances to Warner to regain control of his publishing rights. However, the clause became complicated after his song “A Bar Song (Tipsy) went viral.
Shaboozey is now alleging that the label isn’t telling him the accurate amount he owes from the deal. He also added he thinks the company is trying to play him to keep him in a deal. Kreshendo has now responded to Shaboozey’s claims, claiming fraud on his part. The label agreed to let the singer out of his contract in 2019. However, there were some strings attached that changed the deal. Kreshendo claims his exit deal still allowed them to collect money on all his musical compositions, and they allege he knew damn well that was the arrangement. The label says Shaboozey is only firing back because of the success of “A Bar Song.”. Kreshendo is now suing the singer for over two million dollars. No other details have come out about this case so far.
