The 43-year-old star, known for her roles in various Hindi films and reality television, has taken a courageous step in sharing her journey with the public, aiming to raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding this chronic illness.

Endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the womb, can lead to severe pain, infertility, and other complications. Despite its prevalence, discussions around endometriosis have been relatively muted, with many sufferers enduring their symptoms in silence due to societal taboos and misinformation.

Shamita Shetty, who recently underwent surgery for endometriosis, took to her Instagram handle recently to share a heartfelt video from her hospital bed, engaging in a poignant conversation with her sister, Shilpa Shetty, about the challenges of living with endometriosis.

She chose the caption on her post “Did you know that almost 40 % of women suffer from Endometriosis.. and most of us are unaware of this disease!!! I want to thank both my doctors, my gynac dr Neeta Warty and my Gp dr Sunita Banerjee for not stopping till they found out the root cause of my pain! Now that I’ve had this disease surgically removed I’m looking forward to good health and now more physically pain-free days!”

In her post, Shamita got so many well wishes from fans, friends, and celebrities.
