“Six massive heart attacks later and being brought back from the dead 4 times I apparently had a 100% blockage in my LAD,” Sheppard told fans.

That’s why it’s called a “widow maker.” Survival is said to be impossible.

So, how did Mark survive such phenomenon?

Well Sheppard credits his wife, the L.A.F.D and the staff at St. Joseph’s California for saving his life.

“If not for my wife, the @losangelesfiredepartment at Mullholand and the incredible staff at @providencecalifornia St. Joseph’s — I wouldn’t be writing this,” he shared.

“My chances of survival were virtually nil.”

Gosh that’s a scary notion, so very sorry to hear that for Mark, an incredible man, friend and actor.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, Mark.

Why is it called the Widow maker?

There’s a reason it’s called the widow maker and from what we’ve learned, it couldn’t be called anything else.

Because the statistics for this condition are a little scary.

See the link for Health News on the widow maker condition.

Firstly, 50% of deaths occur in the first few hours.

Secondly, 10% of people who suffer a ‘widow maker’, don’t survive past the first year.

But the good news, the chances of a full recovery increase if the patient survives the first few hours of the attack.

That might seem like a small number but it’s still a scary percentage.

And Mark Sheppard survived six heart attacks?!
