In this apartment complex in question, people came and started boarding up the doors and windows of some apartments while some residents were still inside. Them doing this supposedly caused some residents to be trapped in their own apartments, with door handles reportedly being taken off.

As the TikToker notes, there is no specific reason why this happened, although a letter from the city of Harvey says that the building department decided that some units in this complex be evacuated. As the TikToker details, this is seemingly due to a safety risk that could allegedly impact those who use the stairs and balconies at the complex. Allegedly, the stairs’ structural integrity has reportedly passed their life expectancy, as outlined in the video.

Videos of the incident went viral and caused a lot of backlash online. As a result, the boards that were initially placed on people’s apartments were subsequently taken down so people could leave without any issues. However, as the TikToker notes, some residents are still allegedly not happy with this as many of them have been living there for a long time, not wanting to be forced to leave.
