Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after suffering a cardiac arrest during “Monday Night Football” game versus the Bengals.
According to the Bills official statement, the American football player Damar Hamlin is now sedated and remains in critical condition: “Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in the Buffalo Bills’ game versus the Cincinnati Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”
Besides, Hamlin’s representative Jordon Rooney tweeted a few hours ago: “His vitals are back to normal and they have put him to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat. They are currently running tests,” explaining that they are still running more tests and waiting to see how Hamlin will recover.

NFL star Damar Hamlin collapsed about nine minutes into the game due to cardiac arrest after colliding with Bengals receiver Tee Higgins whose helmet appeared to hit him in the head and chest area. He received immediate medical care on the field, including CPR, and was then driven by ambulance to the nearby University of Cincinnati Medical Center, surrounded by his family and colleagues.
The National Football League (NFL) postponed the Bills-Bengals game in Cincinnati, Ohio, nearly 90 minutes after kickoff.

Prayers for Damar Hamlin
Damar Hamlin’s family released a statement on Tuesday, January 3, 2022, expressing their “sincere gratitude” for all the support from the fans and everyone, medical care responsiveness following the terrifying scene, and asks to keep praying for him:
“On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words, and donations from fans around the country… We also want to acknowledge the dedicated first responders and healthcare professionals at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center who have provided exceptional care to Damar. We feel so blessed to be a part of the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support. We also want to thank Coach Taylor and the Bengals for everything they’ve done.”

Multiple sports figures showed their support for Hamlin, including basketball star LeBron James who prayed for him and his family on Twitter; Arizona Cardinals defensive end JJ Watt also tweeted: “Please be ok man. Please be ok.” Moreover, retired Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark told SportsCenter show (on ESPN): “This isn’t about a football player, this is about a human.”
