“Warner Bros are currently looking at how to bring The Cursed Child to the big screen,” a source told The Sun. “It has been in their sights since the play proved to be so popular in the West End.”

The success of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play at London’s Palace Theater in July 2016 prompted Warner Brothers Studios to consider this move, the source claimed, albeit they added that the film’s production was still in its very early stages.

According to the insider, “the dream would be to have significant stars back, including Daniel Radcliffe, but that is still incredibly far off,” as reported by The Sun.

“The hope at the moment is that The Cursed Child could be made into two films – both of which would pack as much punch, if not more, than the stage show,” they added.

Based on the books written by UK author J.K Rowling, better known by her writing name J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros. created the 8 Harry Potter movies. The first Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film was released in theatres on November 16, 2001.

The conclusion to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Part 2 was released in 2011, followed by another Fantastic Beasts film series about the events leading up to the main saga, also based on Rowling’s book of the same name.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a play written by Jack Thorne that is based on J.K. Rowling’s original story. The plot is set 20 years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and follows the story of Harry Potter’s son Albus Severus Potter and his first year at Hogwarts.

The Harry Potter movie series generated more than $11 billion (NZ$17 billion) at the international box office during its dominance on screens for ten years.
