A source opened up about the couple’s decision to divorce. How did they decide to end their marriage?

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth are officially ending their 11-year marriage. An insider exclusively told People that the decision had been well-thought. “They didn’t come to the decision to divorce easily and hastily. It took a long time,” the source said.

The reason for their split seems to be the actress’ work schedule that led to little time spent together before the separation. They had “been spending less time together”, the insider added. “This is so hard for both of them. There’s no drama. These decisions are so difficult when there is so much friendship and love there.” the source continued.

Earlier this month, the actress, 47, and her husband, 52, announced their separation in a joint post on Instagram. “It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” they said in the statement. “We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together.” they added.

The announcement was made shortly before their 12-year anniversary, in March 2023. The former couple announced their engagement in 2010 and had their marriage ceremony in 2011. They share one child together, Tennessee James.

“They are two very different people, though. Reese is headstrong and focused. Although very hardworking, Jim is more laid-back.” the source told the outlet. “After she was set up with Jim, their relationship moved quickly.” they continued. “Reese was thrilled by his attention and excited to marry him.”
