Kathy Griffin is opening up about the price tag behind her latest cosmetic procedure, and it was no small investment.
The 65-year-old comedian revealed that she spent more than $200,000 on her third facelift, admitting the procedure was “not cheap” but still less than what some other stars reportedly pay for similar treatments.
Speaking on The Good Guys podcast with hosts Josh Peck and Ben Soffer, Griffin shared, “It was not cheap. You ready? $218,000. Do you know how many jokes I have to tell for $218,000? I have to do at least two shows.”
The My Life on the D-List star joked that she’s careful with money and couldn’t justify paying celebrity-level prices. “I’m just such a money person. I can’t bring myself to do it,” she said. “What I love about my D-List life is I went to Kris Jenner’s last guy. Not the million-dollar ponytail where they pull your whole face up, that’s what Kris got. But I went to her last guy.”
Griffin, who has always been candid about her cosmetic surgeries, said she once believed other women in Hollywood would be open about their procedures too. “I’ve had three facelifts,” she admitted. “I’ve been paparazzied on my daily walk. Imagine you’re at the height of a workout and someone takes a close-up of your face, not the most flattering photos.”
She added with her trademark humor, “They always put a photo of me next to one where I’ve got fake eyelashes and a little magic hair. Some of it came from a gay donor, so I have to just laugh. I’ve decided it means I’m famous that I’m getting paparazzi photography.”
Griffin explained that when she discussed her facelift on her YouTube show, the video quickly went viral. “I thought that doctor was going to propose, he was so excited,” she said with a laugh. “I also foolishly thought every actress or woman would talk about having face work, but no, it’s just me.”
In an earlier appearance on the Talk Your Head Off podcast in August, the Love Wrecked actress confirmed she had undergone her third facelift because she is “vain,” but insisted she doesn’t take her looks too seriously.
“This is my third facelift, yes,” she said. “I know that’s so vain. I’m so vain for no reason. No one has ever gone to a Kathy Griffin show to see her beautiful, youthful face. You come to hear my jokes. I don’t want you to care what I look like. I’m in Lululemons today, for God’s sake. I’m in my fat pants. I don’t have dysmorphia. I have a little.”
Griffin’s honesty and humor continue to set her apart, showing that even after decades in the spotlight, she is unafraid to laugh at herself or share the real cost of staying camera-ready.
