The participants in the Squid Game: The Challenge claiming compensation.

Squid Game: The Challenge is becoming a challenge for the contestants in it. They allege that they suffered injuries like hypothermia and nerve damage while completing the challenges. As a result, a British personal injuries law firm, Express Solicitors, is threatening a lawsuit against the show.

“We have sent letters of claim on behalf of contestants injured in this show,” CEO Daniel Slade said in a statement. “From what we’ve been told, they pushed the boundaries of safety in the name of entertainment. Production companies need to ensure that health and safety standards on their shows don’t leave people at risk of harm.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Squid Game: The Challenge responds, “No lawsuit has been filed by any of the Squid Game contestants. We take the welfare of our contestants extremely seriously.”

Previously, the show came under scrutiny when the contestants shared their experience filming the “Red Light, Green Light” game in the first episode. The Sun UK published an article, where the players shared their experience with The Sun.

A player says, “It was like a warzone. People left in tears.”

Another one shares, “Even if hypothermia kicked in then people were willing to stay for as long as possible because a lot of money was on the line. Too many were determined not to move so they stood there for far too long.

“There were people arriving thinking they were going to be millionaires but they left in tears.”

The first five episodes of the game series were released on Netflix on November 22.
