Pinkies up!

As the weather begins to cool down, a cup of tea sounds like the perfect way to welcome the winter months ahead. If you’re a tea lover like myself, you can appreciate the fact that the perfect brew can go a long way. If you want to know the not-so-secret tips to get the perfect brew- keep reading!

Invest in a quality kettle

There is something about a kettle that is able to boil water in record time that makes tea-making a much more enjoyable process. This SMEG kettle comes in a variety of colours and has been a staple in my kitchen ever since I purchased it a year ago. It’s a definite must-have.

Pick out your favourite tea

This seems like a given but having your favourite tea will make your day a little brighter and a little cozier. Check out David’s Tea for some fun new flavours if you’re in the mood to find something more festive for the season. Chamomile is also a great caffeine-free option that is loaded with antioxidants. Green tea is another one of my favourites because it contains healthy bioactive compounds and antioxidants.

Invest in mugs that make you happy

I am a mug connoisseur so this may just be me but I love having a variety of mugs to choose from, based on my mood that day. Whether it is a mug inspired by your favourite TV show or it is personalized with your initials, there is a mug out there for everyone. I personally love the look of chic, double-walled clear mugs- they make for super fun Instagram pics of your morning brew.

How to spice up your tea

If you need a little more excitement in your everyday brew, try some of these tricks to change things up a bit.

  • Sugar for sweetness (to your taste)
    • Honey, Maple Syrup or brown sugar are some alternatives to white sugar
  • Frothed milk to turn your tea into a latte
  • Cinnamon for a little extra spice
  • Mint or peppermint for a minty punch
  • Berries for a fruity texture (this also adds some organic sweetness)
    • Make your own berry-infused tea by adding one black tea bag and a half a cup of fruit pieces into a Mason jar. Fill it with boiling water and steep for three minutes. Remove the teabags, cover, and let the fruit steep for another ten minutes. Strain and serve hot or over ice.

Enjoy!

Hopefully, this post made you love tea a little more-cheers!
