Let’s take a look at the Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2022 menswear collection from creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier with bold personalities and highly trendy.

In this spring/summer collection, Lucie and Luke Meier put a lot of effort into creating a very new and unique aspect through their creativity and design. They had begun developing their men’s collection some three months into the pregnancy. The inspiration for the collection came when Luke had thoughts on how fashion has commercialized sportswear and streetwear has led him to build his style as he has dedicated eight years work for Supreme. And he is forever reminded of the individualism of the New York street style of the early 1990s. “You’d see people on the street who’d be able to mix things like tailoring with an interesting piece of jewelry and something more functional like a parka. We were thinking about Jean-Michel Basquiat or Glenn O’Brien, these seminal New York characters,” he said.

This product line includes clothes with monochromatic tones such as pink, orange, reflective green, or soft yellow that look incredibly striking, and fashionable ribbed cardigans with leather-covered buttons were paired with polo shirts. The color-blocked vests with a tactile feel came off as arty. Although it is one color tone for the whole outfit, the vest combined with the casual pants with a pink tone or bold red makes the whole outlook look incredibly luxurious, classic, and noble. Shirts, vests, or cardigans are designed with a straight style and are mainly made of thick cotton fabric with removable sleeves that make you highly comfortable in dressing and posing.

Besides, to make the outlooks shine brighter, the creative directors also combine the outfits with accompanying accessories such as pearl brooch, necklace with unique motifs, or a crossbody bag that makes them look stunning for the collection to highlight and add fashion personality. “The idea of taking the banal and elevating it was the spirit of the approach to art in New York at the time, post-Warhol Pop,” Luke said. The collection is full of fashion, bringing comfort and dynamism through textures. The monochromatic looks exude retro, classic but still modern, stylish, and chic, just as Luke and Lucie expected.

The collection was introduced to the public as a part of the Paris Men’s Fashion Week while being filmed at the Milanese Hotel. This is also a new success for Lucie and Luke Miere when conveying the message and meaning from the collection’s materials, styles, and tones. “It’s about the person rather than the uniform,” said Luke Meier.
