Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles discussed how some fans have reacted to their relationship in an interview: “I just wanted to sing. I didn’t want to get into it if I was going to hurt people like that.”

Harry Styles is barely on social media, as he said, but he is aware of the disapproving reactions some fans have had to his personal life. The singer has been the subject of buzz since he started dating Wilde in late 2020.

The 38-year-old actor and director Wilde has been dating the 28-year-old former member of One Direction since she cast him to star in her upcoming psychological thriller movie, Don’t Worry Darling.

Despite tabloid stories and paparazzi photos, the duo has traditionally maintained their privacy about their relationship. However, they have now both spoken to Rolling Stone magazine for a cover story on Styles titled: How Harry Styles Became the World’s Most Wanted Man.

Harry stated in a cover story on August 22 that “it obviously doesn’t make me feel good. It’s obviously a difficult feeling to feel like being close to me means you’re at the ransom of a corner of Twitter or something. I just wanted to sing. I didn’t want to get into it if I was going to hurt people like that.”

While Olivia said, “What I don’t get about the cruelty you’re referencing is that kind of toxic hatred.” I’ll say it “I don’t personally think the negative energy defines his fan base at all; rather, I see them as the antithesis of Harry, and everything he puts out there,” she added. The majority of them are true champions of kindness.

Olivia was subjected to a barrage of online vitriol from Harry’s followers after the couple’s presence at a wedding in January 2021 appeared to corroborate rumours of their affair. According to Buzzfeed, several fans swarmed her social media with criticism, accusing the director of “stealing” him and that she should be ashamed of their relationship.

Olivia, who has children Otis, 8, and Daisy, 5, with her ex-husband Jason Sudeikis, pondered on having to resist the urge to talk about the media attention her love life had received earlier this year.

When asked if she wanted to discuss her personal life, Wilde told Vogue in January 2022, “It’s obviously incredibly tempting to rectify a false narrative. “But what you discover, I believe, is that when you’re truly happy, it doesn’t matter what other people think of you. You just care about what is true, what you love, and who you love.”

Highlighting the attention that each person has received “Olivia replied that she simply cherishes the opinions of people closest to her and added, “I’m happier than I’ve ever been. And I’m healthier than I’ve ever been, and it’s just wonderful to feel that.”
