Alicia Silverstone is allegedly reprising her role as Cher Horowitz in an upcoming Clueless sequel series. Reportedly, the new series will take place three decades after the original film.

Alicia Silverstone recently announced the new series on her Instagram page.

“Totally buggin’… in the best way ????‍♀️✨ (Swipe to see why ????),” she wrote in the caption.

The post featured a screenshot of a Variety article discussing the new series and a photo of her character, Cher. Reportedly, Silverstone is reprising her role as Cher, who was the main character in the original 1995 film.

Clueless Cast

The 1995 film followed Cher, a popular, rich teen from Beverly Hills. Loosely based on Jane Austen’s novel “Emma,” the film follows Cher attempting to play matchmaker with her fellow students and teachers. Specifically, the film focuses on her attempts to help a new girl called Tai, played by Brittany Murphy, gain popularity. 

Reportedly, the upcoming series will follow Cher as an adult. However, further plot details have yet to be revealed.

Clueless Actress

As outlined in Concrete Playground, the series is currently in development and will allegedly be available on Peacock upon release. In addition, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are writing and producing. Both Schwartz and Savage are best known for their work in the teen-drama realm. For instance, they have worked on Gossip Girl, The OC, and Nancy Drew. Moreover, the 1995 film’s original director, Amy Heckerling, is returning as executive producer.
