David Schwimmer Movies

David Schwimmer played Ross Geller in Friends. The series ran from 1994 to 2004  and was a hit with audiences. However, Schwimmer was relatively unknown prior to his role as Ross, and he has been open about the shock of going from a lesser known actor to one of television’s most recognized faces.

David Schwimmer Movies and Shows

For instance, during an episode of the podcast Making a Scene, Schwimmer talks about a trip to Vegas the cast and the director, Jim Burrows, took prior to Friends airing.

Jim Burrows [the director] took the cast to Vegas … this was before we were on the air or anything. We were walking through the casino at one point, and he said to us, remember this moment, it’s the last time you’re going to be able to walk through a casino like this – basically, with total anonymity.”

The actor continues his story by describing the moment he realized Burrows was right. For instance, Schwimmer said he was trying to catch a flight when, ”I hear a blood-curdling scream. I was genuinely frightened. I thought someone was being stabbed or something. And a group of girls come and like – like literally just scream and grab me. And they won’t let me go … I mean, it was terrifying.”

Friends Ending

While Schwimmer said it took some time for him to get use to that level of fame, the actor has also described the hit sitcom as an incredible, life-changing chapter.”

Nevertheless, Schwimmer also admitted that he never watched the show or listened to the theme song after it ended. Allegedly, the actor does consider his co-stars as friends. However, Schwimmer says that he felt like he ”was ready for the next chapter.

David Schwimmer Daughter

Despite the actor’s previous statements, he also revealed that his mentality towards the show changed when his daughter, Cleo, started watching it. The actor said, I’d be making breakfast or whatever, and I’d hear my kid’s laughter.” The actor continued by saying that this changed his “whole relationship to the song and the show.”

While fans have been divided over some of the actor’s comments about the beloved series, most find his daughter’s love for the sitcom a wholesome end to the story.
