Alberobello is pure magic, and Trulli Soave is the place to stay. Here is an in-depth look at my experience and why I recommend it.
There are few places in the world as storybook-perfect as Alberobello, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site encompassing winding lanes and iconic trulli houses that create a truly dreamlike atmosphere seemingly straight out of a fairytale. During my recent visit to this village in the heart of Puglia, I had the pleasure of staying at Trulli Soave, a stay that felt like stepping into a chapter of that storybook, particularly one I didn’t want to end.
This charming and thoughtfully restored retreat perfectly captures the essence of the region while offering all the modern comforts I could ask for. From its unbeatable location to its warm hospitality, here’s an inside look at my stay, and why the enchanting Trulli Soave should be at the top of your travel list next time you find yourself in Puglia.
Nestled in the heart of Alberobello’s historic Aia Piccola district, Trulli Soave offers guests a rare opportunity to experience the timeless beauty of traditional trulli homes, as it is rooted in rich history and tradition. Upon our arrival, it was clear how the property seamlessly blends old-world charm with modern touches, creating a peaceful retreat designed to help guests relax, reconnect, and enjoy a truly memorable stay.
The staff was extremely hospitable and personally escorted us to our trulli, offering helpful information about the surrounding sights along the way. Once we arrived, we were blown away by the timeless beauty of these historic homes. Inside our trulli was an absolute dream, offering spacious accommodations such as a fully-equipped kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and a whirlpool tub featuring chromotherapy as well as a soothing neck massage waterfall. The entire space felt like a comforting blend of warmth and authenticity, with a hint of indulgence.
Here are some highlights of our stay:
- The iconic roof made this a unique stay from beginning to end.
- We loved relaxing and unwinding in the whirlpool tub, which felt like a serene escape.
- The bedroom featured a comfortable, quiet aesthetic.
- The bathroom was spacious and functional.
- The kitchen came fully equipped with the necessities for a luxurious stay.
Staying in a trulli for the night felt like stepping into a fairytale, where every detail, from the conical stone roof to the cozy interior, exudes charm and history. This is definitely a must-stay experience in Alberobello, as it offers a rare opportunity to connect with the town’s rich history and architectural heritage firsthand. That’s because these iconic stone dwellings (dating back centuries) are a living link to the region’s past.
With optional extras like handcrafted breakfasts, in-trullo aperitifs, massages, brunches, and wine tastings, every detail is thoughtfully curated to deliver an immersive experience honoring the magic of the trulli, while offering the comforts of today.
The next morning, we ventured close by to Così com’era for a delicious brunch. This charming breakfast hall encapsulates the authentic spirit of the trulli region and encourages guests to enjoy a generous buffet featuring a mix of local delicacies and international favorites. There is also a chance to opt for selections from the à la carte menu. This was the perfect way to end our short and sweet stay at Trulli Soave.
Our stay at Trulli Soave was nothing short of magical — a perfect blend of authenticity, comfort, and thoughtful detail in one of Italy’s most enchanting villages.
Whether you’re a history lover, a design enthusiast, or simply someone in search of a peaceful escape, this unique retreat offers something truly special.
