In a recent interview, Stefani addressed rumors that she and husband Blake Shelton are divorced. Stefani, 54, discussed how she balances work and motherhood, No Doubt’s upcoming reunion, and marriage. This last topic has had some people speculating; Stefani wasted no time in disputing the rumors.
Stefani spoke candidly about the insecurities one feels in a relationship, even one as seemingly secure as hers with Shelton, 47. There are times the, singer shared, that in a relationship one can “create drama in your own mind” that fuels those insecurities.
“I was in that phase,” Stefani revealed.
Speaking in the same interview, Shelton said it was “an insecurity we both have” and the two of them have conversations about it.
Whether in spite or because of these insecurities, the singer said the two remain strong.
“[W]hen you’re in love and have truly aligned values, nobody can get to us,” Stefani also called the divorce rumors “lies,”

The Grammy-winning artist said it was these insecurities and past experiences that led her to write her new song “Purple Irises.” Originally meant to be sung alone, Shelton eventually convinced her to let him record with her.
Named after the flowers found growing on Shelton’s ranch during the pandemic, the song reminded Stefani that “I am in love with my best friend” and her insecurities were just her “overthinking” everything.

The couple first met on the set of The Voice in 2014. Shelton and Stefani were both coaches alongside Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams.
Shelton divorced his then-wife and fellow country singer Miranda Lambert in July 2015, later that year in November, he and Stefani began dating. The couple were together for five years before becoming engaged in 2020.
They got married on July 3, 2021.
