Claudia Ferri is sitting down with HOLR to discuss her role in the critically praised Apple TV+ series, Palm Royale. In the much-anticipated show, Ferri stars alongside icons such as Kristen Wiig, Allison Janney, Carol Burnett, Ricky Martin, Laura Dern, Kaia Gerber, and Josh Lucas.

during our chat, Ferri dives into how she got started in the industry as well as how her multi-ethnic background has helped shape her career as she knows it. Keep reading to learn all about how Ferri is following her dreams- from trusting herself to pursuing her love for acting to gearing up for what’s next.

How did you get started in the industry?

It starts out as me being a little girl discovering the Oscars- seeing that people can be recognized and applauded. I didn’t even know what acting was at the time, but a lightning bolt just struck me and I knew that this was it and this is what I wanted. This is what I was meant for.

I had the same reaction in high school when I saw “Theatre” written across the wall. I loved watching television and a little later, I loved watching Meryl Streep. I didn’t understand a lot of English at the time as my first languages were French and Italian. I started by knowing that my path was that of acting. I knew that my life was going to influence my work and my work was going to influence my life.

It started with the simple desire to be seen- not in a vain way- but to have legitimacy to my existence. Of course, life took its course and I found legitimacy in so many things. I never really fit in a box but my path was really about listening and trusting myself.

How has your multi-ethnic background helped shape your career?

In my family, we have Egyptian, Italian, Lebanese, English Canadian, and French Canadian. Events and family feasts are like the United Nations! It’s something that has always been close to my heart- to cross barriers with languages. I learned that in my family, as diverse as we are, there was always love and joy in gathering amongst people. For me, it was interesting that the world on television- the news specifically- brought in a current that was different than my tangible experience. What it did for me as an actress was that I have always been fascinated with members of my family. We shared movements of life even though we were from completely different backgrounds. I love being able to emulate these different roots and origins by translating them into what the script calls for. In addition, my own look also influenced my journey as an actress.

Tell us all about the Apple TV+ Series Palm Royale

Palm Royale is a huge beacon of joy and the gratification of dreams. It’s a palpable utopia. Some moments were so “Old Hollywood” yet dealing with contemporary issues! It was so magical to see the story and the characters come to life with the brilliant contribution of all the departments. This unique project came to me inconspicuously- I prepared my scenes, did the work, and sent the audition. The following week I sent in another read for the role. Shortly after, they came back with an offer. At that point, I knew some of the people attached to it. I had huge butterflies from deep down in my belly all the way to my fingertips. Working on a project with Abe Sylvia, Tate Taylor, Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Ricky Martin & Carol Burnett, to name a few, is a rare opportunity. This dream team is the real deal!

What’s next for you?

Last week, we shot a segment for a comedy in development. This coming month, I’ll be going back and forth to Canada to shoot a project for the CBC. Also, the final season of Cérébrum where I play a Neurosurgeon will be airing as of July 4th. But the big news is that Palm Royal is returning for a second season! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for all of us!
