Jamie Foxx says “he went to hell and back.”

July 3, 2024 – Actor, Singer, and Comedian Jamie Foxx is speaking out about his medical scare for the first time from which he said he almost died.

“I passed away,” Foxx stated in a video shared yesterday, about his harrowing experience. His medical tragedy took place last summer while working on set.

The actor was in the middle of shooting a movie in April 2023, called ‘Back In Action’ alongside actress Cameron Diaz in Atlanta when he fell ill and had to be rushed to the emergency.

Now the Oscar winner describes the situation as going from simple to dangerous within minutes as he described it as this saying,  “he asked his boy for an Advil, and (*snaps his fingers) I was gone for 20 days and didn’t remember anything.” In what he described as first having a bad headache.

He then later went to see a doctor to receive a Cortisone injection, for pain and swelling due to inflammation.

That doctor then realized something terrible was wrong and relayed his concerns to the actor.

What happened next, is not disclosed by Jamie only that he goes on to say in this recent video, that he did not want to go into specifics.

Rumors in the media began swirling that he was close to death. Fans were confused because Foxx’s family and representatives were not speaking out right away.

So fans took to his social media to post ‘get well prayers’ and tributes while waiting for confirmation on his medical illness stay in the hospital.

Corrine Foxx, the 56-year-old’s daughter provided a statement in April 2023, at the to the public advising on her Father’s condition. Foxx said her Father “had a medical emergency and that he was on his way to a recovery.”

Months after his hospital stay in 2023, he was seen in an outpatient rehabilitation facility located in Chicago. While in recovery, Foxx regularly kept his fans updated about his prognosis through social media.

Foxx first touched on the subject when he spoke out about his harrowing experience in a video last July, writing that “he went to hell and back.” The star who humbly stated that he did not want his fans to see him with “tubes running out of him.”

However, he later announced the good news writing on his Instagram that “he was feeling much better and feeling back to his old self.”

The actor continued to thank his fans worldwide in December by posting on his social media on his birthday, that he needed every prayer and those prayers are what got him through.

He is set to resume filming the movie ‘Back In Action.’

Jamie Foxx Update

Jamie Foxx did update the media and fans at this year’s AAFCA (African American Critics Association) which was was held in March. Foxx said in his acceptance speech while on stage, that he will definitely speak on what exactly happened to him. When he is ready, and will do it exactly his way.

“Everybody wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened,”Foxx said. He jokingly continued, “I’m gonna do it in a funny way. We’re gonna be on the stage. We’re gonna get back to the standup sort of roots.”

Netflix’s Back In Action will be released later this year in November. It follows the recently released hit movie They Cloned Tyrone. Jamie Foxx is an Academy, BAFTA and Grammy Award Winner.
