Mac Miller’s second posthumous album Balloonerism is releasing this year.

January 13, 2025- According to XXL magazine, the album is going to be released on the 17th of January. In addition, the album will feature SZA and the rapper’s alter ego Delusional Thomas (here). Moreover, Thomas is listed as a guest on the song Transformations. Meanwhile, both he and SZA will be featured on the single 5 Dollar Pony Rides ( here). The album will be available through streaming, vinyl, CD, and cassette formats. According to Rolling Stone, Malcolm’s estate states the following in regard to the new album.A project of great importance to Malcolm — to the extent that he commissioned artwork for it and discussions concerning when it should be released were had regularly.

Balloonerism History

According to XXL magazine, the album was originally recorded around 2013-2014. However, the album was leaked as early as 2021. It was not until March 2023 that fans were informed of an official release. During an interview with Sway In The Morning, producer Madlib announced he was finishing up an upcoming Mac Miller project. On November 17th, 2024, a trailer for the album was finally released at Tyler, The Creators Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival.

Balloonerism tracklist

According to XXL magazine, the track list has been released early on streaming platforms and will feature 14 songs. However, fans appear to be especially excited about SZA’s contributions. According to Rolling Stone, Miller is a producer on SZA’s EP Z under the pseudonym Larry Fisherman. Specifically, these songs are Ur and Warm Winds. However, it is also unclear how many guest appearances will be on the album (here).
