Meghan Markle recently rebranded her lifestyle brand from American Riviera Orchard to As Ever, after facing a trademark issue surrounding the original name.

Meghan Markle Brand

The Duchess of Sussex had initially named the brand after the area she and Prince Harry reside in, Santa Barbara, often referred to as the “American Riviera.” However, Meghan was informed that she could not secure exclusive rights to the name “American Riviera” due to its widespread use as a geographic term. The addition of the word “Orchard” did little to resolve the dispute, prompting the brand’s renaming.

Despite the first trademark issue with the previous name, As Ever has now found itself embroiled in another alleged legal challenge.

Officials in Porreres, a town in Mallorca, Spain, are considering legal action against Meghan Markle over her brand’s logo. The As Ever logo reportedly features a palm tree with two birds on either side, a design that seemingly mirrors the town’s historic coat of arms. The town’s emblem displays a palm tree in green and orange, flanked by blackbirds, set against a white background, as noted here.

While Meghan’s logo features a more minimalist approach with dark grey and white tones, the basic design elements—palm tree and birds—are allegedly notably similar to those of Porreres’ coat of arms. This resemblance has now raised concerns among the town’s officials, who are now investigating whether Meghan’s As Ever brand has appropriated their iconic symbol for commercial use (here).

As the legal probe continues, it remains to be seen if this dispute will further complicate the Duchess’s brand endeavors.
