From Star Wars to Beyoncé, The Office, and Olivia Rodrigo, many aspects of pop culture are also known for their enthusiastic fanbases. Sometimes that enthusiasm can lead some fans to get tattoos of their favorite characters or song lyrics.

One fan recently received attention for their tattoo of lyrics from Olivia Rodrigo’s song, “hope ur ok” [sic]. Based in Colorado, Grace Flemming posted on their TikTok last month to share she’d received a tattoo on their waist of the line, “Address the letters to the holes in my butterfly wings,” but upon closer inspection, Flemming realized a mistake.

In her TikTok post, Flemming told viewers to “ALWAYS double check the spelling before” getting a tattoo. The video shows what the lyric was supposed to look like, followed by what Flemming got tattooed: “Address the letters to the hole in my butter wings,”

In her post, Flemming asked Rodrigo to “pls [sic] change the lyrics officially or sumn [sic]” to cheer them up.

Much to Flemming’s surprise, the singer herself commented joking that “THIS IS THE NEW LYRIC,”

It seems Flemming was pleasantly surprised by the response, asking in the comments if she and Rodrigo could be friends.

 

 

Speaking to NBC News, Flemming said the tattoo artist who made the mistake offered to fix it to match Rodrigo’s original lyrics. However, Flemming said she is debating keeping the tattoo the way it is, saying the current mistake “makes it more unique and special,”

Going on to share what the original lyrics mean to her, Flemming says that if someone says something mean or hurtful to her, she’s going to let it go through her own “wounds or holes,”
