What were the challenges Raven faced after coming out 10 years ago? The actress opened up about it in a recent interview.

In an exclusive interview for E! News, Raven-Symoné opened up about the challenges she experienced in her private life after she publicly came out in 2013. The actress talked about personal vulnerabilities and her professional journey, as well as wife’s excitement regarding the recent award Symoné has received.

As the Cheetah Girls actress mentioned, coming out publicly made her feel “very vulnerable”. “There were a lot of challenges,” Symoné said. “There was the crumbling of the wall that I had put up for so many years. And I felt very vulnerable, it was an interesting wound that was opened up in public.” she added.

The actress, who accepted the Icon Award at the 9th Annual Better Brothers Los Angeles Truth Awards earlier this month, was taken aback by the news of receiving the award. “I was taken aback at first like, ‘Oh, holy snap, this is happening, okay?!'” she shared. “But also honored and humbled and respect that there’s so many other people that deserve this. I’m definitely humbled for taking it. My wife was happy about it, though!” the actress mentioned. “She said it across the room. I was like, ‘Calm down, no I’m not!'” the actress recalled telling her wife after hearing the news.
