Happy Birthday shoutout goes to Starbucks’ iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte! 

Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte is officially 20! Today, the chain is celebrating a nostalgic occasion as the iconic fall-inspired drink turns 20.

A legendary fall menu fave, the Pumpkin Spice Latte- PSL for short-changed the game when it was introduced 20 years ago. To celebrate this milestone, customers who purchase a Pumpkin Spice Latte (hot, iced or blended) on October 10 at participating stores in Canada will receive a sheet of temporary tattoos (while supplies last).

As well, Starbucks paired up with KidSuper Studios to drop a limited-edition Team PSL Varsity Jacket. It’s officially available for pre-order at KidSuper.com/TeamPSL (while supplies last).

This October 10, Starbucks stores will be playing a curated playlist of 2003’s most popular hits- as a fun nod to the year the PSL was born!

Check out these fun facts relating to the cultural phenomenon:

• The PSL first began as a trial run in about 100 stores across Vancouver, B.C. and Washington, D.C. in 2003. This was before it launched across the U.S. and Canada the next year.
• The PSL was recently revamped to include iced versions. For instance, in 2019, the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew was released. This year we were introduced to the Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte.
• In 2015 Starbucks started putting pumpkin sauce from real puree made from sweet little kabocha pumpkins.
• Did you know that The Pumpkin Spice Latte was almost named the Fall Harvest Latter (FHL)??
