Will The US Go To War With Hamas

Recent events have thrust the United States into a complex situation, with its military supplies flowing into Israel as the country battles against Hamas terrorists. The conflict is marked by brutality, the kidnapping of civilians, and a looming threat to Israeli citizens, Palestinians and other nationalities like Americans who have also been killed since the Saturday attacks of Hamas. In this article, we will delve into the U.S. response to the Hamas crisis and analyze whether this situation might escalate into a full-scale war.

The U.S. Stands with Israel

President Joe Biden has made it clear that the United States stands firmly with Israel in the face of the ongoing Hamas attacks. The President emphasized that the attacks have been exceptionally brutal, resulting in the loss of hundreds of Israeli civilians’ lives and the injury of thousands. The situation is dire, with many families anxiously awaiting news about their loved ones who may be alive, dead, or held hostage.

A Resolute Response

President Biden assured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of a swift, decisive, and overwhelming response from the United States. The U.S. government has been in constant communication with Israeli partners and other allies in the region and across the world since the crisis began. The primary goal is to ensure that Israel has the necessary military assistance to defend its cities and citizens. This support includes additional military supplies, ammunition, and interceptors to replenish the Iron Dome missile defense system.

Congressional Action

President Biden has also committed to requesting urgent action from Congress to fund the national security requirements of critical partners, emphasizing that this is not a matter of party politics but the security of the United States and the world.

Military Posture in the Region

In response to the crisis, the United States has enhanced its military posture in the region to strengthen deterrence. This includes deploying the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group to the eastern Mediterranean and bolstering fighter aircraft presence. However, it’s important to note that these actions are not solely to deter Hamas but to prevent any country or group from taking advantage of the instability and confusion in the region. So far the US is not going to war with Hamas on a physical level, outside of supplying Israel with reinforcements. On a Hamas Telegram group chat they have stated that, “America must realize that if it enters the war, the battle will expand to other countries.” According to the chat this was a conversation that took place between Ali Baraka and Al-Mayadeen. Ali Baraka is head of Hamas National Relations Abroad and Al-Mayadeen is a media outlet.

American Citizens in Hamas Attack

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has noted that there are U.S. citizens among the hostages taken by Hamas. The U.S. government is actively working with the Israeli government and regional partners on every aspect of the hostage crisis, including sharing intelligence and deploying experts to advise and coordinate on hostage recovery efforts.

Who Is Hamas Funded By

Sullivan also pointed out that Iran is complicit in the attack, given its long history of funding, training, and supplying Hamas. However, it’s yet to be confirmed whether Iran had prior knowledge of, planned, or directed this attack.

Will the U.S. Go to War With Hamas

The situation is undoubtedly tense, and the U.S. response is marked by its determination to support Israel in its time of need. While the United States has escalated its military presence in the region, the focus remains on deterring any opportunistic actors rather than a direct military confrontation with Hamas. The possibility of a full-scale war between the United States and Hamas seems remote at this point, but the situation remains fluid, and a peaceful resolution is the desired outcome.

The ongoing crisis between Israel and Hamas has prompted a swift and resolute response from the United States. While the U.S. has taken significant measures to support its allies and deter any potential threats in the region, the goal is to ensure the safety of American citizens, defend critical partners, and prevent further violence. The path forward remains uncertain, but the U.S. is committed to upholding the security of the region and the world.
