Michelle Trachtenberg’s cause of death has been revealed to the public. Specifically, shortly after  Michelle passed away in February, her cause of death was ruled as “undetermined” because her family declined an autopsy. However, The New York City medical examiner’s office has revealed that she passed away due to complications from diabetes.

Michelle Trachtenberg is best known for starring in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl. However, she has been acting since she was a child, with her first lead role being Harriet the Spy in 1996. Previously, Michelle starred in Nickelodeon’s  The Adventures of Pete & Pete and the soap opera All My Children.

Upon her death, several of Michelle’s former cast members paid tribute to her.

“She was electricity … You knew when she entered a room because the vibration changed. Everything she did, she did 200%,” wrote Blake Lively from Gossip Girl.

“Michelle, listen to me … Listen. I love you. I will always love you. The hardest thing in this world, is to live in it. I will be brave. I will live … for you,” said Buffy star Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Diabetes Mellitus

Moreover, Michelle’s family initially objected to an autopsy for religious reasons. Specifically, Michelle’s family are allegedly Jewish, a faith where bodies are believed to be sacred. Therefore, bodies should not be tampered with after death. Allegedly, the office determined her cause of death through testing that did not involve an autopsy.
