Australia’s MooGoo Skincare–a brand inspired by a product intended for cow’s udders–is now finally available in Canada. 

Yes, you read that right. A skincare brand inspired by cows. To be specific, a skincare brand inspired by a cream product intended for cow udders. This cream helped resolve several skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and many more. Okay, technically, it’s not the same cream. MooGoo’s founder, Craig Jones reformulated the cow cream and made it into a non-greasy human-friendly moisturizing cream after seeing his mother use the said cow cream to soothe her distressing skin condition. Hence the adorable name of the brand: MooGoo. Get it? Moo’s Goo?

So how exactly does this moo’s goo help with skin problems? And just how effective is it? Technically speaking (fair warning: we are going to get a little zoologically TMI here), cow’s udders must be well-moisturized to pump milk properly. This said cream is used to prevent cracked and dry udders hence why Jones’ mom uses it for her psoriasis– a skin condition that causes red, scaly itchy patches. After reformulating the product, MooGoo’s Skin Milk Udder Cream is born. This moisturizer is suitable for all skin types and conditions, formulated with natural vitamin E, sweet almond oil, rice bran oil and milk proteins. Milk proteins are great for hydrating and improving the skin’s elasticity. As an all-natural, cruelty-free brand, MooGoo sources its milk proteins ethically from happy and healthy New Zealand cows. 

As a brand, they aim to provide appropriate and useful products for people with sensitive skin so they took it upon themselves to have their products tested by dermatologists. The conclusion? Out of fifty-four participants who self-reported to have sensitive skin, none showed any negative responses to MooGoo’s products. This also goes to show that MooGoo tests its products on humans only and not on animals.
