Eva Longoria is set to star in Apple TV+’s new dramedy series, based on the novel “Land of Women” by bestselling author Sandra Barneda.
Synopsis of Series
The series is created by Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neir, starring Eva Longoria as the protagonist and legendary TV star Carmen Maura as her mother. The plot follows Gala (Eva Longoria) as she is forced to escape New York with her mother (Maura) and daughter after her husband incriminates the family in financial improprieties.
The three women flee to a small endearing wine town in Northern Spain that Gala’s mother previously fled 50 years ago, promising to never return. The three women are on the run in this town to evade the dangerous criminals that Gala’s disappeared husband is indebted to. Although they wish to start a fresh lifestyle with new unknown identities, the gossip in the small town spreads like wildfire, exposing the family’s darkest secrets and truths.
Director of “Land of Women”
The director of the series is Spanish film director Carlos Sedes who has been bestowed with the Iris Award. The series is currently in pre-production in Spain and is shot in both Spanish and English for viewers to watch in each language. “Land of Women” is produced for Apple TV+ by Bambu Studios and executively produced by the award-winning Ramón Campos, Teresa Fernández-Valdés, and Eva Longoria herself.
Who is Eva Longoria?
Eva Longoria is an actress best known for playing Gabrielle Solis on Desperate Housewives. Her portrayal on the show resulted in a 2006 Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress and a 2005 Screen Actors Guild award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
She is also an executive producer for the works “Devious Maids,” and social concern documentaries “Food Chains” and “The Harvest.” In 2018, Eva Longoria gave birth to her son Santiago “Santi” Enrique Bastón, whom she shares with her husband, Mexican businessman José Antonio “Pepe” Bastón Patiño.
