Green Day and Charli XCX shared a playful, harmless feud at Coachella 2025. While some fans have been taking it a little too seriously, the two musical acts have been clear that there is no bad blood between them.

Charli XCX gave an iconic performance on the festival’s opening weekend, especially with her long-awaited duet with Lorde. However, the electronic-dance singer caused controversy when she wore a Miss Should Be Headlinersash at the after-party.

Many interpreted this as a cheeky but disrespectful jab at Coachella’s headliner, Green Day.

Charli’s after-party outfit caused quite a bit of controversy online, with users both defending and critiquing her for the bold fashion statement.

”I don’t get why Charli wasn’t a headliner,” wrote TikTok user joshacrawf.

”How are you guys defending this absolutely diabolical Coachella performance,” said TikTok user georgiajxmes.

However, both of them have been clear that this feud is only playful fun. For instance, Green Day’s lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong, wore a neon green Brat hat during their second-weekend performance.

In addition, Green Day’s drummer, Tré Cool, posted a photo of himself wearing a sash titled “Actual Headliner.” In response to this, Charli re-posted the photo on her X account. “Obsessed,” Charli wrote in the caption, making it clear to music fans that she meant no harm with her initial after-party outfit.
