SAG Award Winners 2024
Netflix subscribers who tuned into the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) on Sunday night were not disappointed. From the incredible outfits to historic wins, this year’s SAG awards had something for everyone. The awards were particularly beneficial for Chris Nolan’s film Oppenheimer.
The film’s SAG domination came weeks after similarly dominating at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs. Oppenheimer received 8 awards at the latter ceremony, including Best Lead Actor and Best Director.

At this year’s ceremony, Oppenheimer was nominated for 4 awards: Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role, Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, and Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. won the first two awards, while Da’Vine Joy Randolph beat Emily Blunt for Best Supporting Actress. Oppenheimer capped their domination of the night by winning the fourth nomination.
Oppenheimer is predicted to dominate again at the Oscars on March 10, with Cillian Murphy favored to win Best Actor.

Upon accepting their awards, Murphy, Downey Jr., and Kenneth Branagh—accepting on behalf of the cast—thanked their colleagues for the recognition. “Twenty-eight years ago when I was trying to become an actor…I felt extremely like an interloper,” Murphy said upon accepting the best actor award, “looking out on all of you guys here today, I know I’m part of something truly wonderful,”
Branagh highlighted the cast’s solidarity with the Writers Guild of America’s strike, We went from the red carpet,” Branagh explained, citing the cast’s decision to walk off the red carpet of their world premiere last year, “we didn’t see the film that night, we happily went in the direction of solidarity with your good selves, so this is a full circle moment for us,”
