Levi’s has been a classic jean brand for 168 years, that is a long time to not only perfect denim but to be able to collaborate with brands that have been influential along the way. Now, on September 23rd to be exact, Levi’s is teaming up with Felix the Cat and releasing the Felix the Graduate collection in collaboration.
Felix the Cat has become one of the most recognizable cartoon animals on television and the rest of the media, since 1919 Felix the Cat became the first cartoon animal, paving the way for Garfield and many other friendly animated characters.
Felix the Graduate is the collection being released with Levi’s. Inspired by the cartoon in the ’50s and 60’s this collection playfully explores the idea of Felix in college, specifically attending Felix University. This collection has a contemporary spin on the classic collegiate and varsity looks of both the ’50s and so on.
The collection includes streetwear meet prep wear, including varsity jackets, sweaters, rugby shirts, hoodies, pants and tops, with Felix on them. This is something that Levi’s knows how to do well considering how long the brand has been around, and how many ages of fashion it has both been through and continued to inspire. Not only has the brand created jeans and styles that have continued to last years upon years, but they have also created and collaborated with many other famous brands like Lego, Peanuts, and many many more.
Levi’s brand epitomizes the classic American style which is effortless and cool. Since 1873 Levi’s jeans have become the most recognizable jeans in all of the fashion worlds- the brand prides itself on continuing to evolve with the times, pioneering, innovating and inspiring in the apparel industry.
The collaboration with Felix the Cat was one they wanted to create in an unexpected way, that is why the collection is Felix The graduate. The preppy varsity looks not only fits into today’s fashion but also fits into both the brand and Felix’s identity as well, creating a crisp yet smart look that is still relaxed and easy to wear.
