Levi’s and New Balance are two iconic brands that coincidentally have a lot in common. Both are historic American companies founded near the turn of the 20th century, and both have iconic products with 500 in the name—the 574 sneaker for New Balance and the 501 jean for Levi’s. So it made sense that these two great American brands would finally come together on a collaboration.
For Spring/Summer 2020, Levi’s® and New Balance have teamed up to create the special edition 1300 sneaker, which celebrates the traditional NB 1300 silhouette — celebrating it’s 35th anniversary this year! Why should you know about this shoe? In simple terms, it’s the shoe all the cool kids will be wearing.
Here’s a closer scope on the shoe.
- It’s constructed using a combination of Levi’s back patch-coloured suede and deadstock White Oak XX52 denim, which was provided by Levi’s from their limited stockpile.
- The White Oak Mill, which closed its doors at the end of 2017, was one of the last manufacturers to produce selvedge denim in the US. And the New Balance 1300 is manufactured in Skowhegan, Maine – one of the five New England manufacturing facilities that New Balance owns and operates.
- It’s characterized with orange accents, including a Levi’s orange tab on the outside left foot, a White Oak label on the tongue, and a special hangman inspired by graphics from both company archives.
The combination of the two makes the Levi’s x New Balance 1300 a must-have, authentically American sneaker.
Although the collaboration with New Balance will be ongoing, the Levi’s x New Balance 1300 will be released in a limited supply, which makes them a guarantee to be the most coveted sneaker of the season. Get your hands on them before it’s too late.
“We are excited to bring two iconic American brands together that share the same quality and craftmanship values,” said Joe Grondin, New Balance Collaboration Manager. “We are the first footwear brand to utilize Levi’s orange tab label, bringing brand fans a fashion forward silhouette that is brought to life through a unique product story.”
The new release will retail on March 26th for $285.00 CAD, and will be available in Canada at the Levi’s Store Eaton Centre, Haven, Uncle Otis, and SSENSE.
