Her triumphant best-seller autobiography – I, Tina: My Life Story was published in 1986. The movie based on the book and also titled ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ was released in theatres in 1993 and starred the very talented Angela Bassett, who went on to receive critical acclaim for her portrayal in the film. A Broadway play Tina: The Tina Turner Musical is based on her life story and debuted in New York City in 2019.

Turner released Private Dancer, her fifth solo album in 1984 which would go on to be her most successful commercial and critical album, selling over 20 million albums worldwide. It was a rebirth of sorts for Turner who had released records in the past as part of a singing group or duo in the 1960s and 70s.

The Private Dancer singer who hails from Nutbush, Tennessee emerged on to the music era in the ’60s. Turner and her partner Ike Turner became a force in the music world as the duo ‘Ike & Tina Turner.’ Ike was known as a songwriter and as a guitarist while Tina was and is still recognized for having one of the strongest iconic female voices in rock history. And when it came to performance – dancing and singing on stage, Tina is simply the best. Tina Turner now calls Switzerland home with her husband, Erwin Bach, a record producer whom she married in 2010.

Tina is not only a legend for her voice but she is highly respected for her concerts as well.
