Serena “Momma Smash” Williams slams Harrison Butker at the 2024 ESPY Awards. 

July 12, 2024- Former tennis star Serena Williams has made headlines after slamming Chiefs kicker, Harrison Butker, at the 2024 ESPY Awards on July 11^th.

Williams, 42, hosted the award show alongside actress Quinta Brunson, comedian Nikki Glaser, and actor Rob Lowe as presenters.

To celebrate a landmark year of women’s sports, Williams, her sister Venus, and Brunson walked onstage at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Venus said, “So, go ahead and enjoy women’s sports like you would any other sports, because they are sports.”

Williams jumped in to say, “Except you, Harrison Butker. We don’t need you.”

To add the final nail in the coffin, Brunson said, “At all. Like, ever.”

Butker was photographed entering the award show, but his reaction to Williams’ comment was not recorded.

Harrison Butker Controversy

Back in May, Butker faced major backlash after delivering a “misogynistic” commencement speech at Benedictine College in Kansas.

The speech went viral as Butker highlighted the role that women play in a family and how the female graduates should look forward to taking on the “vocation” of homemaker.

The Internet slammed Butker for his “women-hating misogynistic comments” and Catholic ideologies.

Serena Williams Crip Walk

Williams also decided to weigh in on the Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud.

“I’ve learned anything this year, is that none of us, not a single one of us, should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar,” she said.

As the crowd cheers, Williams breaks out into a “Crip Walk” dance, moving her hips and shaking her head.

“He will make your hometown not like you. The next time Drake sits courtside at a Raptors game, they’re going to ‘Forest Gump’ him.”

Williams make a reference to the film, “Forest Gump,” when the young character is excluded on the school bus and the other children refuse to sit with him.
