Summer McIntosh, 17, is making Canada proud across seas at the Paris Olympics as she wracks in gold medals.
August 2, 2024- Olympic swimmer Summer McIntosh has become one of Canada’s most successful swimmers of all time and is continuing to haul in the medals at the Paris Olympics.

As of Saturday, July 27th, McIntosh has brought Team Canada three medals for her performance in swimming.

In the women’s 200-metre butterfly event, McIntosh brought in gold ahead of American swimmer, Regan Smith, and Chinese swimmer, Zhang Yufei.
McIntosh, 17, won her second gold medal in the women’s 400-metre individual medley, ahead of American swimmers, Katie Grimes and Emma Weyant.
McIntosh also won silver in the women’s 400-metre freestyle, just behind Australian swimmer, Ariarne Titmus.
How old was Summer Macintosh at her first Olympics?
McIntosh made her Olympic debut at just 14 years-old in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
For the 4×200-metre freestyle relay, 800-metre freestyle, 400-metre freestyle, and 200-metre freestyle, McIntosh came in 4th, 11th, 4th, and 9th place respectively.
The Toronto-native is also the first Canadian swimmer to win four career gold medals at the World Aquatics Championships.
Was Summer Macintosh’ mother a swimmer?
According to the Toronto Star, McIntosh’s mother, Jill McIntosh (formerly Horstead), was also an Olympian.
Jill, at just 16 years-old, placed fourth at the 1983 Pan-Am Games in Venezuela in the 200-metre butterfly.
