After not travelling for so long many Canadians are experiencing the travel itch. A great way to satisfy this itch is to explore what Canada has to offer.  It is an opportunity with the vaccination rates going up and case numbers going down many Canadians are eager to begin travelling again but some are not comfortable with leaving the country quite yet.

For this segment we will be focusing on Alberta and what Alberta has to offer. Alberta, which is located on the western side of Canada is comprised of many landscapes including prairies, foothills, mountains, forests, and lakes. Alberta is a slice of visual paradise.

 Sports

If sports are what you are looking for Alberta is one of the best places to go! Home to The Edmonton Oilers, The Edmonton Elks, The Calgary Flames and The Calgary Stampeders. Alberta is one of two provinces that has two NHL teams and two CFL teams.

West Edmonton Mall

Edmonton is home to North America’s largest mall, West Edmonton Mall. West Edmonton Mall is also the second most visited mall in Canada and the twenty-third largest in the world. Home to 800 stores, a skating rink, an amusement park, and a huge waterpark! West Edmonton Mall is the sizing equivalent to 48 city blocks.

Whyte Avenue

The trendiest area in Edmonton, Whyte Avenue, has one-of-a-kind boutiques, art galleries, music stores and tons of restaurants and cafes. Year-round on Saturdays, they hold the Old Strathcona Farmer’s Market where you can find over 130 vendors!

Calgary Zoo

One of Calgary’s biggest tourism spots is The Calgary Zoo. Calgary is home to one of the largest Zoos in Canada. Containing many different exhibits you can visit the penguins, see the animals that are native to Canada, take a stroll through a tropical rainforest, see gorillas, snakes, crocodiles, red pandas, tigers and many more animals! The Calgary Zoo is the perfect stop for the whole family.

Banff Springs Hotel

One of Canada’s grand railway’s hotels and dates to the inception of Banff National Park. Rich with history, ghost stories, celebrity visitors and secret passageways the hotel is not only impressive to look at but also amazing to walk through.

Lake Louise

One of the world’s most photographed lakes, with its stunning blue waters and snow-capped peaks, Lake Louise is a must-see. Easily one of Alberta’s greatest natural wonders, you can strap on some skates in the winter or hop in a leisurely canoe ride in the spring.

Alberta is one of Canada’s best-known provinces and is well worth the hype it receives. A trip to Alberta will not disappoint!
