Usher picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards.

July 5, 2024 – 2024 is definitely Usher’s year. The 45-year-old multi-talented singer, dancer, actor, and producer, accepted his award on Sunday at the 2024 BET Awards. Born Usher Raymond lV, in Texas – he first blasted into the music business at the age of 15 years old.

During his moving speech, the Father of four spoke about his family life, and early start in the music industry and expressed his gratitude to his fans for sticking by him for thirty years. 

The singer also thanked his wife Jenn Goicoechea, who was in attendance at the awards.

Straight out of the gate, he won over critics and fans in the 1990s with his young, smooth, fine-tuned voice. Usher blessed listeners with his R&B music sound and electric dance moves throughout the 90s and 2000s.

Usher was the top performer at this year’s halftime show. Some of the artists who joined him on stage were Alicia Keys, H.E.R., Will.i.am, and Lil Jon.

In 1994, his self-titled album Usher was released. He followed it up with his sophomore album in 1997 titled My Way. The title track was released as a single and quickly shot up the billboard charts to take the number two spot along with another single of that album, ‘You make me wanna.’ 

However, it was the RnB ballad ‘Nice & Slow’ that would give the singer his first number one hit. Nice & Slow spent two weeks on the Billboard charts. 

That was just the beginning for Usher’s ride to the top of the charts where he would enjoy weeks at number one with hits, like ‘U Got It Bad’,’U Don’t Have To Call’, ‘U Remind Me’, all released from the album 8701 in 2001.

Selling over 20 million, Confessions was 2004’s best-selling album. The single Yeah! from the album and featuring Lil Jon, shot up the Billboard charts to spend an impressive 12 weeks at number 1. 

Another single My Boo with Alicia Keys also grabbed the number one spot for six weeks.

The number 1 hits continued with the single OMG from his 2010 Raymond v Raymond.
