Why Does Israel Have Child Prisoners

Israel has agreed to release 150 Palestinian prisoners in two phases as part of an exchange deal with the terrorist organization Hamas which has agreed to release 50 hostages. The list of prisoners released includes individuals affiliated with different factions, such as 49 from Hamas, 60 from Fatah, and 17 associated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Among the released prisoners are 33 women, 123 boys under the age of 18, and 144 men aged 18. One of the youngest detainees is 14-year-old Adam Abuda Hassan Gheit from East Jerusalem, arrested for offences like attacking a police officer.

Child Prisoners Being Released Israel

Since the release of the first phase of child prisoners, the Hamas Telegram chat has been posting some of the children returning to the streets of West Bank and East Jerusalem. Hamas lists some of the offences of these child prisoners which include stabbing Israeli civilians and police officers or attempting to stab them. Images are being circulated in the Telegram chat, which show the freed prisoners waving the Hamas flag in the streets and praising them despite the atrocities Hamas committed against civilians on October 7th.

While there was uproar about Israel having child prisoners, Hamas has written the crimes of the child prisoners beside their names in their telegram chats and it appears that there were a lot of incidents of stabbing that they were involved in or attempted stabbing, and attacking civilians and police officers. Israel will continue to release prisoners in exchange for hostages as phase two  of this temporary truce and ceasefire.
