July 23rd, 2024The beds in the Olympic Village are going viral again because of the odd material used as a bed structure.

Cardboard Beds Olympics

Many Olympians have made viral videos this week about the beds in the Olympic Village. Diver Tom Daley posted a video testing his bed by jumping and knocking on it to show its stability. Many other Olympians did the same and were confused about the material choice. The beds went viral back at the 2020 Olympics for the same reason, and now they are rumored to be “anti-sex” beds.

The bed is shown to have the stability of one person, but arguably, more than one person wouldn’t be able to hold onto the bed. Hence, the “anti-sex” bed because a person with 1 or more partners couldn’t use the bed for sexual activity.

Sex In The Olympic Village

Although many people believe the “anti-sex” initiative is the main reason for the cardboard beds, the Olympics themselves gave a different reason. The Olympics backed sustainability being their reason for the cardboard bedframes. With so many athletes and moving parts in the Olympic Village, the staff has to find ways to stay efficient. The use of cardboard makes it easier to recycle and/or reuse certain pieces of the Village for future games. Whatever the real reason may be, it seems like the athletes are having fun testing the cardboard’s durability. While all of us are ready to see the countries compete in this year’s games.
