Following a public controversy, Anthony Rota has reportedly resigned as House Speaker.

It’s official, Anthony Rota reportedly resigned on Tuesday as Speaker of the House of Commons in Canada following a public controversy as noted here.

Rota reportedly publicly celebrated a man who – was later determined- to have fought for the Nazis in World War II. Rota called him a “hero,” during Parliament while Justin Trudeau and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were in attendance.

Rota initially issued an apology for his actions and has since allegedly stepped down about “global embarrassment.”
