Official news announces that Frank Ocean has dropped out of Coachella 2023. The artist will no longer be a headliner during the music festival’s second weekend, as noted by Variety. A representative of the singer confirmed the news in an exclusive statement made on Wednesday.

Why did Frank Ocean cancel Coachella?

“After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1. Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity. On doctor’s advice, [Ocean] is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.” the representative told Variety.

The statement was made shortly after Ocean’s first Coachella performance that led to diverse reactions from fans. According to Variety, the artist faced technical issues, chose to perform some of his songs in a different order and started the show one hour later than scheduled.

In response, some fans have shown their disappointment on Reddit, as mentioned here.

However, other people were pleased with Frank’s performance. One of these people is Justin Bieber, who shared his thoughts about the set on social media. “I was blown away by Frank Ocean’s Coachella performance. His artistry is simply unmatched, his style, his taste, his voice, his attention to detail… I was deeply moved,” Justin wrote on Instagram, according to Us News.

Who’s replacing Frank Ocean?

According to Variety, an insider mentioned that Frank Ocean’s performance will be replaced by Blink-182.
