Why Does Kristen Bell Let Her Kids Drink Beer?

This past Monday, popular actress Kristen Bell made a guest appearance on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ during which she revealed that both her daughters, Delta (8 years old) and Lincoln (9 years) occasionally sip on their father’s (Dax Shepard) non-alcoholic beer.

Dax Shepard is “a recovering addict, but he like to drink non-alcoholic beer. According to Bell, their children became aware of the beer while on their family’s nightly walks, where Shepard would often “pop one open” with their “oldest daughter [Lincoln] on his chest” as they looked at the sunset.

Their daughter Lincoln expressed her interest in the beverage from then on. Bell explained that “as a baby, she [Lincoln] was pawing at it, and sometimes she’d suck on the rim of it”, and the reason they didn’t intervene was because they thinkit feels to her [Lincoln] like something special, something daddy, something family”. Her youngest daughter Delta took a liking to the drink soon after, but Bell made sure to emphasize that “there’s no alcohol” in their children’s drinks.

Kristen Bell’s Response To The Criticism

Unsurprisingly, her comments sparked a lot of backlash against her and her family. Many people believe that she and Dax Shepard allowing their kids to drink non-alcoholic beer is inappropriate for children of their age.

Kristen Bell is defending her and her husband’s parenting choices on the latest episode of Dax Shepard’s podcast (‘Armchair Expert’).

She acknowledged that “people were very upset” after hearing what she said on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, and “they’re allowed to be upset, because they’re not their kids” so “they can think whatever they want”.

Dax Shepard doesn’t share Bell’s indifference towards their critics, and informed those listening that they (other parents) may be serving their own children alcohol without knowing it. He explained that “this is where we’re [he and Bell] different and you’re at peace and I’m not. Orange juice has a .5% ABV, alcohol by volume, Heineken has a 0.0. … If you’re serving your kids orange juice, you’re serving them way more alcohol”.

But Bell believes that at the end of they day “if people want to be angry about something, they’re going to be angry about it”.
