Introducing the Mazda CX-50, accompanied by the CX-50 Minute Challenge.
When life gets hectic, it can be difficult to stop and spend time in nature. But did you know the benefits of nature can be achieved within a recommended amount of time? 50 minutes, three times a week is all it takes. That’s why Mazda Canada and ParticipACTION have teamed up to help Canadians spend more time outdoors and in nature- thanks to the CX-50 minute challenge.
To celebrate the launch of Mazda’s CX-50, Mazda Canada and ParticipACTION are introducing the CX-50 Minute Challenge in the month of August, which encourages Canadians to spend the minimum recommended amount of time in nature and enhance their well-being.
HOLR is breaking down the latest launch from Mazda, the CX-50 Minute Challenge, and how the brand held an immersive, overnight nature stay for Canadian media to experience these benefits first-hand.
All about the Mazda CX-50
Mazda recently introduced the first-ever CX-50. This purpose-built vehicle has been designed to drive beyond paved roads in order to support the active and outdoor lifestyles of North American customers.
The Mazda CX-50 keeps key attributes top of mind, including- but not limited to superior driving dynamics and sleek design. The elongated silhouette and wide stance help give the vehicle dynamic proportions that not only balance design elements but are also specially geared toward outdoor ruggedness.
“As a Japanese company, the well-being that nature brings has a long history. Shinrin-yoku, or Forest Bathing, is based on ancient Shinto and Buddhist practices with a belief that immersion in nature is not only good for our souls, but good for our bodies. At Mazda, we couldn’t agree more,” said David Klan, President and CEO, Mazda Canada Inc. “Our new purpose-built, adventure-seeking CX-50 is a vehicle designed to create harmony with nature, not to conquer it. It belongs in nature, and the CX-50 Minute Challenge reminds us that we belong in nature too.”
The CX-50 Minute Challenge
To celebrate the launch of Mazda’s first-ever CX-50, Mazda Canada and ParticipACTION have introduced the CX-50 Minute Challenge. This helps encourage Canadians to spend active time in nature to enhance their well-being.
“We know that time spent in nature can make us healthier. Our heart rate goes down, our mind becomes clearer and calmer, and physical tension decreases,” said Dr. Leigh Vanderloo, Scientific Director at ParticipACTION. “Adults are encouraged to get 150 minutes of physical activity per week, with added health benefits if we can take this activity outdoors. This is why we’re thrilled to partner with Mazda Canada to encourage everyone living in Canada to get more out of the natural world around them in such a fun way.”
To take part in the CX-50 Minute Challenge, visit the CX-50 Minute Challenge landing page at mazda.ca/en/CX50minutechallenge or download the ParticipACTION app directly from Google Play or the App Store. Then, track every 50 minutes of active time to be automatically entered in weekly prize draws.
As a result, from August 1-31, every 50 active minutes tracked in the ParticipACTION app will give Canadians a chance to win some incredible prizes. There are more than $30,000 in prizes available, with weekly draws and a grand prize at the end of August.
Encouraging Canadians to get outdoors
To celebrate the launch of the Mazda CX-50 and the CX-50 Minute Challenge, HOLR was among a selection of media invited to partake in an immersive, overnight nature stay at Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat. There, we learned more about the benefits of nature, by taking part in an outdoor yoga session, experiencing the Japanese art of forest bathing (shinrin-yoku), and enjoying dinner in the forest.
Guests were driven to the retreat in a Mazda CX-50 in order to experience the latest compact SUV first-hand. The ride was extremely smooth and the car featured luxury details such as a panoramic moonroof, leatherette-trimmed upholstery, heated/leather-wrapped steering wheel, and wireless Apple Car Play.
Once all the guests arrived, they were invited to a forest presentation pertaining to the latest Mazda CX-50 as well as the CX-50 Minute Challenge. Following the presentation, guests were able to take part in forest bathing, which allowed us all to connect with nature in newfound ways, in which we could take these lessons back with us and apply them to our own lives.
The retreat concluded with a beautiful outdoor Japanese dinner and a morning yoga session.
Guests also had ample free time to explore the grounds and further connect with nature.
