Netflix Cancels Beloved Heartstopper Series After 3 Seasons But Promises Movie Finale
April 28th, 2025 – In a surprising turn of events, Netflix has cancelled the beloved series, Heartstopper, after 3 seasons but promises a happy-ending to this love-story.
Don’t fret, this love-story isn’t done just yet . . .
One of Netflix’s most beloved romances is nearing its conclusion. Heartstopper season 3 premiered in the late summer of 2024, and had us swooning from start to finish. Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) saw their romance evolve over 8 episodes, facing challenges and hurdles hand in hand. While many fans were eagerly awaiting the reveal of a new season, Netflix announced some big news.
Heartstopper would not be getting a season 4 to conclude the romance based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novels. Instead, fans will be seeing Nick and Charlie’s ‘happy-ever-after’ in movie format.
“Fan-favorite romance Heartstopper will conclude with an upcoming Heartstopper feature film. The film will star Connor and Locke (who will also serve as executive producers), and is written by Heartstopper creator, executive producer, and graphic novelist Alice Oseman. The Heartstopper movie starts filming this summer,” Netflix announced.
Heartstopper Movie: Everything We Know
The Netflix Heartstopper movie will pick off where season 3 ended and adapts Oseman’s upcoming sixth and final graphic novel. Nick and Charlie are discovering who they are as individuals. As Nick prepares to take his university step, Charlie is redefining his place at school. But as the boyfriends come of age, they begin to doubt where their relationship is heading, especially with the weight of a long-distance relationship looming on the horizon.
The movie will start filming this summer, bringing back main casts members Kit Connor and Joe Locke, and Oseman as writer.
Despite no season 4, fans have reacted positively to the news. “final chapter! omgg i am amazingly crying and super proud to see this incredible movie of Heartstopper,” one commenter posted.
Though, many fans have expressed their desire for a long movie, wanting to enjoy the last chapter of the love-story for as long as they can.
“I really hope it’s 3 hours long, I’m not ready for Heartstopper to end,” someone commented. And another wrote, “This movie better be longer than avengers endgame and the titanic combined.”
For now, all we can do is wait, and bask in the fact that we are getting our much beloved ending to one of the sweetest romances of the century.
