I was let into the world of PATRÓN Tequila and the curated process behind their strides in sustainability, which is the backbone of their exclusive products.
Spirit brands are flooding shelves, and this is a reality we can safely predict. But by what measure are we selecting these products wisely?

The grounds at PATRÓN in Jalisco, Mexico hosts a sustainability facility, an entire hand-labelling warehouse, and a multitude of educational tasting rooms for VIP clientele and executives.
A Process Rooted in Sustainability
The production of PATRÓN occurs in six refined and repeated steps. Starting off with the fields where the Agave is grown. A 45-minute drive away from the main Hacienda, we set out to see the head El Jimador amongst rows and rows of Agave waiting to be cut and transformed into a fine bottle of Tequila. The plants are grown to their full maturity, are distinguished by gender, and the soil goes through an entire rehabilitation system in PATRÓN’s on-site compost warehouse that produces fertilizer.
Back on the farms, El Jimadors and farmers are given unique opportunities to refine their craft of farming. PATRÓN guides farmers through the receival of their GLOBALG.A.P certification. This acknowledgment reflects safe and sustainable farming practices, and is also recognized universally, helping for long-term job security.
The art of creating PATRÓN, initially a family practice and original process, is also one-of-a-kind experience for a farmers journey.
PATRÓN’s Dedication to Stable Employment
Towards the middle of the tour witnessing how PATRÓN is brought from grounds to bottle, we were let into the labelling facility. And yes, it is in a marvelous classical Mexican Hacienda style facade, hosting courtyard spaces for staff to enjoy meals, structures and statues, lime trees and otherly lively vegetation, and notably, the facility hosting over 100 women who work slow and steady to label each bottle of tequila by hand.

Keeping this process in the hands of real workers has opened up over 600 jobs for locals in the region, and in turn is supporting the long-term growth of families and workers in Mexico. Furthermore, each staff member is acquainted with thoughtful regulations around workplace wellness, down to times set out each hour to receive a break from a labor-first job.
Exclusively PATRÓN
If you haven’t already read our first story, we have discussed the barrel-aging process at PATRÓN. The stage at which each different product is made, and using only one method: vintage and exclusive barrels from vineyards and high-end whiskey producers to transform Tequila into reposados, Añejo’s, and further-aged products.
So, which high-end Tequila’s should you invest in for your shelf?
If you’re looking to refine your spirits, knowing the PATRÓN GRAN line is a must. The GRAN Piedra is a four-year aged Añejo that uses the tahona stone. An ancient process imparting the richness of volcanic rock into flavours of the tequila as it is produced.
What is referred to as the ultimate silver Tequila, PATRÓN El Cielo is a clear and refined spirit, and the first ever four-times-distilled silver tequila that uses a process unlocking the sweeter notes of the agave and with a naturally-occuring ultra smooth finish.
