Paul Rudd Returns To Star in Nintendo Commercial For The Switch 2
July 05, 2025 – “Now we’re playing together”: Paul Rudd once again stars in a Nintendo commercial, emulating his famous promo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
If anyone remembers Paul Rudd’s 1991 Super Nintendo Entertainment System commercial, they’ll immediately recognize Nintendo’s new Switch 2 advertisement.
Almost 35 years since Rudd’s iconic performance, Nintendo brought the actor back to promote their brand-new consol. Styled with a familiar long black jacket, beaded necklace, and indie-rock hair, the Ant-Man actor strides into the living room with confident steps and clicks the new Switch 2 into its dock.
Paul Rudd’s Return to Nintendo
The new commercial is dramatic, goofy, and perfectly 90s-coded. Nintendo knows exactly what they’re doing, bringing back the intense, edgy look of the 90s but making sure they’re poking fun at the situation simultaneously. Watch the original commercial below.
Rudd perfectly plays his part. Staring straight into the camera with a smoke-machine fogging up the room, he announces “when you decide to step up to this kind of play. This kind of fun. This kind of experience.” He says that “it’s nice playing with power, but this is better, because now we’re playing together. SUPER TOGETHER!”
The line is a callback to the SNES’s iconic “SUPER POWER” motto, creating a nostalgic feeling that will have fans laughing with recognition.
Nintendo Switch 2 Launch
Those hyped for Nintendo’s new consol won’t have to wait much longer. The Switch 2 will launch 5th June 2025, with pre-orders in the US and Canada starting on 24th April 2025.
