Phoebe Dynevor Discusses Possible Return to Bridgerton in Season 4: “Still Waiting for the Call”
January 29, 2025: Phoebe Dynevor, known for her portrayal of Daphne Bridgerton in Netflix’s hit series Bridgerton, recently shared an update on whether fans can expect her return to the popular romance show. Since Season 2, where she took a more supporting role, Dynevor’s character, the Duchess of Hastings, has been noticeably absent, leading to much speculation among fans.
The Hit Show’s Evolution
Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn’s book series and premiered on Netflix in 2020. With eight siblings in the Bridgerton family, the show has planned for each season to center on a different sibling’s love story, with Season 4 expected to feature Benedict Bridgerton’s journey to find love. The series has become a major success due to its diverse and compelling storytelling, intricate characters, and undeniable chemistry between its leads.
In the first season, Dynevor’s Daphne Bridgerton and Regé-Jean Page’s Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, were the standout couple. Their sizzling on-screen chemistry captivated audiences, but Page’s exit after the first season left viewers hoping for a reunion of the original leads. Dynevor continued in a supporting role in Season 2, but has been absent since then.
Dynevor’s Return: “Still Waiting”
During promotions for her upcoming film Inheritance, Dynevor offered a hopeful yet playful update on her potential return to Bridgerton. She revealed in an interview with The Direct that she had not received any calls yet about returning for Season 4, adding, “I think they’re shooting Season 4 right now. So, I’m still waiting for that call.”
Season 4 will focus on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and his romantic journey with Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), as confirmed by the show’s creators. Filming for the season is expected to take place throughout 2025, with the season premiering sometime in 2026. Fans are still holding out hope that Dynevor’s character will reappear to reunite with her Bridgerton family, even though her storyline in the upcoming season has not been confirmed.
The Future of Bridgerton and Family Reunions
Although Daphne Bridgerton was missing from Season 3, her family members have remained an integral part of the show. Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley, who played Anthony and Kate Bridgerton in Season 2, have confirmed their return for Season 4. Nicola Coughlan, who stars as Penelope Featherington, also teased that she filmed some scenes in 2024, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.
With Season 4 focusing on Benedict, it seems unlikely that the show will bring back Daphne as a central character just yet, but her fans are holding on to the possibility of a return. If Dynevor does return, it will be interesting to see how the storylines from the first season connect with the ongoing evolution of the Bridgerton family.
