Michael Oher is speaking out and allegedly suing the Tuohy family. Claims are surfacing that “The Blind Side” was fake. HOLR breaks it down.
Michael Oher- the subject of the film, “The Blind Side” is speaking out against his alleged family in shocking new claims.
The Blind Side Lawsuit
According to this TikTok video posted by user @bridiogo, Michael Oher’s adoption was allegedly a fraud and he has now gone to the courts to take action against the Tuohy family.
As mentioned here, “The Blind Side” is a sport/drama that focuses on a white family’s mission to help “Big Mike,” a black 17-year-old. It alleges that the boy became an All-American football player and first-round NFL draft pick thanks to the help of this family. The film was inspired by Oher and the Tuohy’s story and starred Sandra Bullock. It was released in 2009 and supposedly brought in over $300 million worth of revenue.
As mentioned in the TikTok video, apparently, when Oher turned 18, he claimed that the Tuohy family stated that instead of becoming adopted into their family, they allegedly convinced him that a conservatorship was the same thing. However, all this meant was that the family had the right to make legal deals in his name. Allegedly, the Tuohy family made millions but Oher made “no money.” Oher believed the conservatorship meant he was legally related to this family but that’s not what it meant at all. As a result, claims that “The Blind Side” was fake have been circulating online since Oher was supposedly never really adopted into the Tuohy family.
Micahel Oher Now
He has now allegedly gone to the court to petition them to remove the conservatorship and to ban them from using him or his name. He also wants the money back that they supposedly made off of him.
Commenters took to the comment section to detail their views on the unfolding situation. There seem to be differing views as well as people calling out star Sandra Bullock to make a statement on the alleged claims:
