It’s #TimeToEndBreastCancer.

Globally, breast cancer causes the greatest number of cancer-related deaths among women. As a result, 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

Over the past 30 years, The Estée Lauder Companies has remained committed to creating a more beautiful future for the breast cancer community and beyond. In highlighting the brand’s milestone commitment, let’s take a look back at how it all began and where the brand is going.

The beginning

The Estée Lauder Companies has been a corporate leader in the global breast cancer movement since The Campaign’s founding by Evelyn H. Lauder. Back in 1992, Evelyn H. Lauder co-created the Pink Ribbon and launched The Estée Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Campaign (The Campaign). This ultimately inspired a global movement surrounding the mission to help create a breast cancer-free world for all.

The following year, Evelyn Lauder founded the Breast Cancer Research Foundation®(BCRF), The Campaign’s leading non-profit organization partner. It is dedicated to advancing the world’s most promising research to eradicate breast cancer.

Together, The Estée Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Campaign and The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation have funded more than $108 million globally for lifesaving research, education, and medical services, with more than $86 million funding medical research grants through BCRF. In this regard, through the continued support from The Campaign, BCRF researchers have been able to make significant breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.

Breast cancer is a diverse disease

Breast cancer affects everyone it touches, including patients, loved ones, doctors, caregivers, advocates, and more. The journey often begins with the same words, “You have cancer.”

For thirty years and counting, supporters of The Campaign have moved to help address the many facets of this disease. For instance, supporters convene and amplify different points of view, educate and spread awareness, and inspire action while facilitating critical fundraising initiatives. All of these actions combined provide valuable information, and resources for organizations around the world to ensure every effort counts towards making a change.
