In case you miss it, there’s going to be a musical movie adaptation of the ever-popular chick-flick  Mean Girls! Rachel McAdams, the actress who played Regina George in the original, might get involved in some capacity. Here’s what we know so far.

Is McAdams’ involvement confirmed?

According to People Magazine, Amanda Seyfried, who played Karen Smith in the 2002 movie, has said that she and her former co-stars are likely to return as cameos in the new adaptation written by Tina Fey.

“It’s been a long legacy for Mean Girls, and I think we all kinda just need to hang,” Seyfried reportedly commented. The original cast of Mean Girls included Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert, and of course Rachel McAdams too.

While Seyfried seems to be optimistic about the return of the original Plastic gang, McAdams has some doubts about whether it is realistic to do so.

As noted by Entertainment Weekly, McAdams thought that she doesn’t see a way to shoehorn her and the rest of the ladies in. However, she did add that if writer Tina Fey figured out a way for everyone to come back, she would be on board. As for Fey, she is going to fill the role of Ms. Sharon Norbury, the North Shore High math teacher.

The musical would be partially based on the book Queen Bees and Wannabe, authored by Rosalind Wiseman. McAdams’ character, Regina George, will be played by Renee Snap this time around.

Which actors are already hired for the musical?

The role of protagonist and main character Cady Heron will be played by the Senior Year star Angourice Rice. Meanwhile, Auli’i Cravalho of Moana fame will play Janis, and Jaquel Spivey will play Damian. Additionally, Jenna Fischer from The Office will play Cady’s mom.

Filming of the movie has begun and is believed to be taking place in New Jersey.
